Creating a Futures Institute

On May 28, 2003, thirty-five Champaign County community leaders gathered on the Urbana University campus to begin a day-long dialogue about the economic future of the county and region. Rick Smyre, President, Communities of the Future, and Dave Faulkner, OSU Extension Agent and Economic Development Director for Champaign County, shared future trends with the group, challenging their way of thinking about planning for the future. Those presentations are linked below. As a result of the discussions that day, the community is now pursuing the development of a Futures Institute to better understand the Creative Knowledge Economy and how the community should develop to be vital, sustainable and competitive in the 21st century.
