Concepts for Community Transformation
COTF is an acronym for Communities of the Future, a growing network of people and organizations in communities in forty-four states and six countries. Since 1989, COTF has quietly been developing cutting edge ideas for long-term community transformation in parallel to existing short-term community development ideas. Pioneering many new research and development concepts, methods and techniques to help local communities prepare themselves for a constantly changing society, the Center for COTF will be a collaborative partner with Ohio State University Extension and Urbana University to work with citizens in Champaign County and the region to create a culture for a Creative Knowledge Economy.
Recently, the COTF Center introduced the idea of a 21st Century System of Community Transformation at the request of the World Future Society at their International Conference in San Francisco in July '03. The following links will introduce you to these cutting edge ideas. Champaign County is proud to be an initial partner with the COTF Center to utilize these ideas, methods and techniques as we prepare for the future.
